Waste water treatment plant and reuse of treated waste water

The Titlis is one of the most popular excursion destinations in Switzerland. The gondola transports up to 4,000 people to the summit every day. The infrastructure on the summit includes several restaurants, shops and viewing platforms. In the past, the wastewater on the summit of the Titlis at 3020 metres above sea level was allowed to seep away unused and untreated. Today it is processed and used for flushing toilets and snow cannons. This results in a massive decrease in pollution through improved wastewater quality and at the same time, the daily transportation of water by gondola and fresh water consumption was reduced by half.
