General drainage planning (GDP)

The REAL Waste Water Association (Recycling, Disposal and Waste Water of the Lucerne Region) and the Building Authority of the City of Lucerne have jointly commissioned the municipal and the regional master plans for drainage.

The development of the drainage master plan covers all topics according to the guidelines of the Swiss Water Association. This includes in particular the conceptual planning of all public sewerage structures in the city and region of Lucerne on the basis of a thorough analysis of the existing infrastructure as well as future needs and requirements.

Environmentally compatible measures have been defined for a professional drainage system.

Special features:

• Complex sewer network with various special structures (inverted siphons, rainwater tanks and overflows) and backwater from Lake Lucerne
• Very strongly fluctuating infiltration water quantities

Services provided by SWISSWATER:

• Preliminary design of subprojects according to the guidelines of the Swiss Water Association (SWA)
• Hydraulic modelling (with software Mike Urban, Mike Urban LTS)
• Decision on the conceptual option taking into account the optimisation of the existing infrastructure
• Definition of measures
